everyone knows it’s a game of strategy, not chance. every single move calculated, being careful not to overthink it, but being deliberate and aggressive when you finally execute the next move. bringing your very select crew with you and having the ones who aren’t prepared stay back. give them an excuse… you have a birthday thing to go to, got trapped in bensonhurst, been day drinking too long, they don’t know. it doesn’t matter. and make sure you use that crazy wild card friend of yours to your advantage, at just the right moment, because you know if not that guy just runs all over the place and gets himself into trouble, and you don’t have time for that, not this round.
It’s the weekend, brooklyn, and it’s yours for the taking. I’ve got a damn good strategy mapped out for you. and I’ve just hit the proverbial time clock.
now make. your. move.

Parlor Walls Album Release Party at Sunnyvale, Bushwick.
there is plenty of live music in this town, but sometimes a show is so much more than that. it’s this progressive music-meets-performance-art experience that puts new york artists in a class all their own, and thursday’s show at sunnyvale embodies just that. experiemental post-punk band parlor walls‘s album release show is happening. their sound is raw, poetic, powerful and avant garde. surreal loops and hypnotic melodies that dare you to keep up yet very obviously don’t care if you do at all. they play alongside the dreebs and arian shafiee of guerilla toss. there will be performance art, live visuals, and caricature drawings too. tickets. $10 available here. all other info is right here, 8pm, 1031 grand st at sunnyvale.
FRIDAY
Risky Business ABC Party at TBA, Williamsburg.
let’s get back to the heart of the warehouse party, where there’s no tacky themed fusion-fest or $60 cover… let’s strip it all down and get back to what we love about partying in this town. heavy house music and a big space to move and dance in and… no clothing. fuck it. strip that away as well. i’m not the only one who wants you too, Risky Business is throwing a party at TBA friday and wants to see you in anything but normal clothing items. get creative or go in your skivvs, just do the old packaging-tape-as-a-bangle trick i’ve pulled a few too many times, and it has never failed to save me from unorthodox wardrobe malfunctions. free before 11pm with rsvp which you can do here. 9pm-4am, 395 wythe at TBA.
Expressions of Middle Eastern Culture at the San Damiano Mission, Greenpoint/Williamsburg.

Dirty Panties: The Musical at House of Yes, Bushwick.
equal parts politics and performance, dirty panties is “a surrealist painting performed as a slow grind and grabs you by the crotch and heart,” sometimes i hate it when i know House of Yes’s descriptions are so much better than what i could come up with, but i also don’t have it at all. this performance about the secret lives and adventures of sex workers told through abstract and emotional vignettes. if you missed the opportunity to contribute to this show by donating your old, stainey undies earlier this week, go to this show. or go anyway, you just won’t see your panties making their 15 minutes of fame or your name in the credits. tickets, $25-40 available here. this is a limited run 4-day show and you don’t want to miss it. march 10, 11, 16, 17 at 2 wyckoff ave at house of yes, where they put the ease into your panties.™
SATURDAY
The Moonlight Mile 3 Year Anniversary Party, Greenpoint.
any bar or restaurant in this town has a flight risk due to heightening competition, raising rents, and an increasingly more finicky constituency… but rest assured that when something is good, it has staying power… like that lovely little bourbon bar on the corner of franklin and india with the free juke box. yeah. free. not to mention a bar staff that always makes you feel at home and charming events that make greenpoint feel like a small town. they made it to three years which is reason by far to celebrate, but not a shock to anyone who knows them. come enjoy good drinks, good music, and good people. 4pm-2am, more info here, 200 franklin st at the moonlight mile- get moonlit™
Something Happening Somewhere in Brooklyn at Fiction, Bushwick.
this is your best chance to make bad decisions this weekend. why? this is fiction’s debut warehouse event, meaning uncharted territory. set the president. be bad. feel good. dance all night and part of the day because we all know time if fucking relative. it’s an art-meets-music-meets-life performance event of such epically underground proportions, the party goes until 8am. so buckle up and settle in, it’s going to be a long ride. artists Nuno Dos Santos, Love Over Entropy, and special guest Maeve co-founder Baikal layer their sounds along with a backdrop of 3-d projection mapping and psychedelic production that allow you to get lost somewhere in between. first release tickets still available for $30 right here. 11pm-8am, 23 meadow st at mona liza.
Masquerade at the Brooklyn Bazaar, Greenpoint.
the best thing about going to a masked event in brooklyn on the weekend is that you can do tag some shit on the way or steal tuna from the store or drink on the sidewalks because your face is covered. and that means they can’t get you. that is just the way it works. so grab that mask and get yourself to the bazaar. djs, dancing, free ping pong and putt putt and private karaoke rooms for singing or other naughty things of your choosing. tickets, $20-30 (they said they “will be increasing in price” the closer to the party it gets…wtf guys. come on.) regardless watch the prices and buy when she’s hot, right here. 930pm-430am, 150 greenpoint ave. at the brooklyn bazaar – shit gets weird.™

Oddities Market at the Brooklyn Bazaar, Greenpoint.
in this city we are all guilty of being hoarders collectors. our tiny apartments become menageries for whatever interesting finds we discovered at the flea market, the vintage shop, the weekly bazaar, or on big trash day. we display them in unique ways so that our small and very expensive spaces are an extension of our souls. (man i just euphemismed the fuck out of your clutter, didn’t i?) sunday’s event at the brooklyn bazaar was made for this exact idea. the first annual oddities market brings together vendors selling natural history objects, medical history ephemera, anatomical curiosities, osteological specimen, taxidermy, jewelry, one of a kind art, flair… and god knows what else. just come, look, buy, and redecorate that teeny tiny coffee table you’re so proud of. $2 admission, all info here. 11am-6pm. 150 greenpoint ave.
