Description
This tour will explore the beauty behind an important cultural enclave in Williamsburg, and the best way that Italians have always held onto their heritage- through food! You’ll learn a brief history of the settling of Brooklyn, and how the area evolved to cultivate very specific regional groups over time. You’ll get to discover and taste the importance of the Italian culinary influences on the city and to appreciate how sometimes, despite the ever-changing competitive landscape the city demands, it’s the original, old-world recipes and approaches that withstand the test of time in this town. This 3.5 hour tour will feature five different food (and wine, if you choose!) spots as well as a thorough explanation about the historical and cultural ties that Italians maintain on this area.
Liz Norment –
I recently booked a tour through Brooklyn, I’m Trying as part of a reunion weekend trip to NYC for me and my girlfriends that I met studying abroad 10 years ago, in Italy. Liz put together an Italian food and culture tour for us that had us all reliving those months spent in Florence together years ago, and making new memories over gelato, 10 years later. The tour was informative and fun and the highlight of our trip together. I’d definitely recommend booking a Brooklyn, I’m Trying tour!
