THURSDAY
The Last Meat Hook Backyard BBQ in Williamsburg
What the hell is going on in our city right now? It’s like someone just flipped the summer switch to OFF and now we’re all suffering and slightly shivering and thinking about all the hot dogs we didn’t eat. Make yourself feel better Thursday night with the last (yeah, the last. You’ve missed all the others) the last of the Meat Hook’s backyard BBQ’s. They’ll be mixing their great meats with the culinary geniuses behind Brooklyn Grange and funky-fresh brews from Threes Brewing. No tickets, cash only, lots of meats. Info here, 6-9pm, at 397 Graham Ave (behind the Meat Hook).
Pizza, Wine Movie Night presents: Austin Powers at Rooftop Reds in the Navy Yard
Outdoor film season isn’t dead and neither is disco and neither am I and neither are you and neither is Dr. Evil. I think. Go revisit this classic from within a rooftop winery in the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard, with pizza and wine. Tickets, $30 include two slices from Porto Pizzeria and a glass. More available for purchase. Info here, 7-10pm, enter from 299 Sands St.
Defender Release Party and Comiccon Celebration with El Jefe’s Nachoria at the Brooklyn Brewery in Williamsburg
Comiccon is weird and dorky. Local beers and flame-torched nachos are definitively not. Come and celebrate being on the cool side of this event at the Brooklyn Brewery Defender release party. Come have comic-hero-themed nachos and on-site brewed beers and don’t talk about the costume you’ve prepared for this weekend, because you don’t have one. Remember? Info here, 8-11pm, 79 N 11th st.
FRIDAY
Romy and Michele Drinking Game at Videology in Williamsburg
If you think about it, Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion was basically what all of us are currently doing digitally on every dating app. Wearing what we think are sexy/trendy clothes, making up lies about our professional lives, pretending to have done something really awesome since high school in hopes to get laid by a hottie. And let’s just say the way they did it was way, way more entertaining than when you’re annoying friend bitches that it’s just not working for her. Go look at this film through new eyes and also, with drinking rules at Videology this Friday night. Tickets $12, here. Film starts at 11:59pm. 308 Bedford Ave.
Get High Aviation Party at House of Yes in Bushwick
I wish that airlines were as sexy as they seemed to be in the 60s and that the mile high club had more planned activities outside of planes and that the hot towels were served by hot nudes and that the goddamn bag of peanuts wasn’t so small. Come to the House of Yes this Friday night to experience Yes Air, the airline of your dreams and the best way to get really high this weekend. They welcome By Your Side and 4 other amazing DJs to keep your plane circling all night. Dress code and all info here. Free before 11pm, party goes until 4am. 2 Wyckoff Ave.
SATURDAY
Celestial Navigation Lesson and drinks at the Gatehouses in the Navy Yard
Been thinking of doing a digital detox but afraid you’ll end up literally lost without use of Google Maps? The first step to admitting you have a problem is to stop making weak-ass excuses no one will believe. Get off the grid and stop looking down at that little blue dot to find your way. Look to the stars and learn to navigate the way people did for thousands of years at this event in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. They kick off their Fall discussion with Frank Reed, one of the world’s leading experts in celestial navigation. The event is $8 and after you can drink whiskey until you see stars at the Gatehouses. Info here, 4:30-6:30pm. 63 Flushing Ave.
Her-icane Comedy for Disaster Relief at Mad Tropical in Bushwick
When all of this hurricane finally blows over, luckily we’ll be left with a slightly annoying memory of dramatic 24-hour news reporters… but so many other neighborhoods, homes and lives will be destroyed. Come to Mad Tropical this Saturday night and laugh at and for a good cause with this all-female stand-up show. Proceeds go to hurricane relief in Puerto Rico (get this – they JUST got power back. Like just a couple of weeks ago.) and help these women use their talent to help others in the wake of future natural disasters. Suggested donation of $10 at the door. Info here. 236 Troutman St.
39th Annual Harvest Fair in Flatbush
Summer is gone and that sucks. But Fall can be cool in a LOT of fucking better ways than Starbucks and all of the brands within CVS stuffing pumpkin spice flavouring down our throats. Come to the 39th Annual Harvest Fair and feel, taste, and see all of the beautiful ways this beautiful season falls upon our community. There will be a Harvest Fair Contest, bike smoothies, pumpkin ring toss, scarecrow making (they work for neighborhood sex offenders too!) and live entertainment. Go, do something wholesome this weekend before you get schwasted. Info here. Noon-4pm, free, at the Brooklyn Bears Pacific Garden, 590 Pacific St.
Quiet Clubbing on Coney Island
Ah yes, social events. The chance for us to stumble upon a new lover, a forever best friend, an opportune business venture, a better drug dealer. Which is completely impossible when you have headphones in. Go to this event where you’ll be so disconnected from the very core of what it is to not drink alone on the weekends that you won’t even have the wherewithal to say “bless you” when someone sneezes. Put on obnoxious headphones. Dance like a fool. Scream in your friends’ ears, “YOURS IS THE SAME AS MINE RIGHT!!” Tickets and info here.
Before Sunrise with Austrian Wine at Videology in Williamsburg
If you haven’t seen this stunning romantic drama by Richard Linklater then hurry up and buy tickets to this event and get lost in that experience you thought you would have when you studied abroad. It’s the first of a 3-part series that follows the actors as they age in real life. This one finds them wandering Vienna, trying to deny the imminent sunrise that will tear the two apart indefinitely. Tickets include a glass of Austrian wine. Get yours here. Showings at 7 and 9:30. 308 Bedford Ave.
SUNDAY
Mexico In A Bottle | A Mezcal Celebration at House of Yes in Bushwick
Remember when tequila felt dangerous? Meet mezcal, tequila’s reckless cousin. You know the one. The one who you hear started smoking at the age of 7. The one who has been tempting you to drink on school nights. A night out with him feels like the best drug trip you’ve ever been on; it comes on slow and smooth and eases you into a state of pure, ecstatic celebration, leaving you with nothing more in the morning but a slight sense of disbelief. If tequila makes her clothes fall off, mezcal undresses her with his eyes, stripping away her inhibitions and making her beg for more, harder, faster, longer, now. So why should you get to know mezcal? Because it feels good being bad. Come immerse yourself in smokey mischief and get into the spirit at House of Yes’s Mexico In A Bottle celebration this Sunday. Over 100 different mezcals plus mexican bites from all of your favorite local haunts. Tickets $75 available here. 3:30-7pm. 2 Wyckoff Ave.

TASTE Williamsburg Greenpoint at the Williamsburg Waterfront
It’s nearly impossible to sample all of the amazing bites and plates in this town even in a year. But how about in a day? How about in a day on the waterfront? How about with hot bartenders making drinks for you too? Totally possible. Taste of Greenpoint and Williamsburg is one fusion-food event that I won’t make fun of. Because it is delicious. Get a$55 ticket here, it’s worth it. Noon-5pm, East River State Park.
