Hey Brooklyn. I’ve found all of the best ways for you to embrace Summer this weekend, from an enchanting rooftop dinner to an all-night underground dance party; a free concert with free drinks and free friends in an unassuming warehouse and a $25 ticket from Williamsburg to Rome.
It’s all right here for you.
Dollylujah in Industry City
People love to make fun of the south, but if there is one famous Southern figure that used her southern sex appeal to meticulously build a fucking empire, it’s Dolly Parton. Trust me, underneath all that hair and behind the cleavage there is a damn smart woman and a fantastic entertainer. Oh and, she stands up for gun control despite how much her fans and “contemporaries” and local representatives bash her for it. So come celebrate this visionary (yep, I said it) outdoors in the Industry City courtyard with a Dolly cover band and plenty of impersonators. Sing, dance, celebrate, wear a push-up bra, and stand up for what you believe in. $10. Info here.
Stargazing at Transmitter Pier in Greenpoint
We have plenty of star sightings in this city but stargazing seems to be overlooked and overshadowed by the bright lights of our sparkling skyline. Head out to the Transmitter Park pier this Thursday night and join the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York to view celestial objects that are gazing down on us, all the time. They’ll have all the telescopes, tools, and knowledge to open your eyes. 8:30-10:30pm, post-gaze drink haze on the barge. Info here.
Brooklyn Mirage Cinema Launch with Dazed and Confused in Bushwick
This heat might have you a little dazed, but let me help clear up your confusion on your plans tonight. Brooklyn Mirage launches their summertime cinema with Dazed and Confused. And if this venue does films half as well as they throw kick-ass parties, then trust me, go. Tickets and info here. 140 Stewart Ave.

Summer Solstice Party at the North Brooklyn Boat Club in NoGreePo
To the boat club in NoGreePo that has turned the second biggest oil spill in North America into… well, into something else, something that we can paddle through, together, safely. Because when life hands you unnatural disasters, you build a boat club upon them and you offer it to the community to use. House with live music from OLSEN at Film Noir Cinema in Greenpoint
Scary movies are cool, I guess. But vintage film noir thrillers from the 1970s shown in an antique cinema hidden among residential streets of Greenpoint with live music? That’s really fucking cool.
