If wine is your spirit animal, then this charming little shop in Williamsburg is where it has been guiding you all this time. This charming little wine shop focuses on supporting small and good-intentioned winemakers and therefore bring you a dynamic selection of spirits that come with a story, and also, all have something to say for themselves. Come tonight to their grand Fall tasting. Meet some winemakers. Drink. Eat. Go home with a bottle and in better spirits than you were before. It starts at 7pm. Info here. 20 Broadway.
Clueless Entirely From Memory at Littlefield in Gowanus
This film defined so much of my childhood and inevitably, my middle school fashion sense. And while I had to aggressively ween myself off of saying “like” in every single sentence, most of it I still remember and cherish. Come see how much everyone else remembers, on stage, at Littlefield this Thursday night. A group of improv actors watched the film together a week ago (maybe for the first time…) and will recite it, from memory, on stage. Sound strange? Go anyway, because everything Ten Bones Theatre Company touches is gold. And also funny. Doors at 7:30, show at 8pm. Tickets and info here. 635 Sackett St.
Poster Making Party ahead of Global Climate Strike in Greenpoint
Don’t be that asshole who opts to ignore the importance of Friday’s march and instead starts the weekend early and indulges with a boozy lunch. Because if you want your children to be able to appreciate a boozy lunch, then make sure you are active in this strike and this entire month of Global Awareness. Start here, at this free poster making party in Greenpoint. Because our neighborhood has a long history of political poster making (for real). Show your friends how clever you are and show the world that you care. Supplies are provided, but bring glitter pens to make more friends. Info here. 240 Kent Ave.

A Tasteful Celebration of Montreal at Archestratus in Greenpoint
Montreal Chef and Author and Chez Ma Tante Chef Aidan O’Neal will be teaming up at our beloved Archestratus this Friday for a celebration of Montreal cuisine and also, working your way up in the industry, Way, way up. The author of Dishwasher, a true story about how a dishwasher made his way to be one of Montreal’s most revered chefs, will be joined by our own Montreal ex-pat and chef/owner of Chez Ma Tante Aidan O’Neal. They’ve put together a very Montreal-esque small-plates menu (maple foi gras arrancini!!!) and will be inviting you into the conversation of this real-life fairytale while you sip orange juleps. Basquiat’s “Defacement”: The Untold Story at the Guggenheim in Manhattan
With the onslaught of “you’re the real masterpiece!” made-for-Instagram pop-up “museums”, attention and visitation of so many of our world-renowned museums is down. And that’s shameful. Get your head out of your ass and yourself out of the frame and go to the Basquiat exhibit at the Guggenheim. It runs until November 6th and will give you an emotionally gripping trip through the life and work of this Brooklyn-born artist as you wind down and around Frank Lloyd Wright’s masterpiece. Oh and just to let you know, there’s no monochromatic ball pit at the bottom. Info here. 1071 Fifth Ave.
Bushwick Open Studios, all weekend!
It’s very apparent that Bushwick is a hub for artists. It’s written and painted all over its industrial walls. But how often do we get to see the creativity within? Well, once a year actually. It’s Bushwick Open Studios so their notorious art walks will now be strolls between galleries, conversations with the artists, and opportunities to appreciate just how dynamic our amazing community is. It’s happening all weekend. See the schedule and map here. Don’t miss it, all of it.
Things to do in Brooklyn on Saturday
Paradise Ibiza takes over Avant Gardner and the Mirage in Bushwick
If you’ve never been to the closing parties in Ibiza, then maybe you don’t understand. How does an island just “close”? It doesn’t, of course, but the closing parties signify the end of the magic that makes it Ibiza. And if you haven’t been, the good news is you can find that same magic in Bushwick. And the magic will be leaving us soon, so go to this closing party at the Brookln Mirage. They invite Paradise, one of Ibiza’s hottest, wildest parties, for their biggest party ever in the US. They’ll close down the outdoor season at the Mirage with Jamie Jones, Masters at Work, Lee Foss, wAFF, Cuartero and more, taking over 3 rooms (including the massive outdoor space) and keeping you moving and grooving and loving and not leaving until dawn (nearly). Get your tickets here now. 6pm-4:30am, 140 Stewart Ave.
The Living Installation presents Brainwashed, part of BOS in Bushwick
Feeling a little overwhelmed by the number of studios and artists participating in this year’s Bushwick Open Studios? I get it. Wandering is encouraged, but make sure you focus Saturday’s schedule on the only performance artists participating this year. BiT favorite The Living Installation will be making you Brainwashed in their intimate studio (or tune in online!) at 8pm Saturday night. Artists Michael Alan and Jadda Cat will be bringing you a 4-hour expressive surreal meditative experience that will force you outside of and way beyond the influences that are constantly infiltrating our minds. It’s hapening 8pm-midnight. Tickets here.

4th Annual Kingsland Wildflower Festival at their Rooftop Garden in Greenpoint
Living in the concrete jungle makes us all hungry for nature, desperate to get back to our roots, somehow searching to stop and smell the flowers. Search no further my cityslicker friends. It’s the 4th Annual Kingsland Wildflower Festival which will open up to you its rooftop garden paradise to kick off climate week and to show support and awareness to our precious ecosystem here in Brooklyn, and also worldwide. It’s free and will be the prettiest thing you see all weekend, so go. Info here. 2-6pm. 520 Kingsland Ave.
The Sex Expo at the Brooklyn Expo Center in Greenpoint
Just promise me something. If you are actively in the dating app scene, just bring your first date here this Saturday. Because isn’t the first date all about figuring out if you’re going to fuck that night? Or how soon it will happen? Well, let the sweet sexual tension buzz all around you at this Saturday at the Expo Center. Go have conversations you aren’t really ready to have among some of the leading thinkers, inventors, and fuckers in the biz. Or hey, if you simply wake up Saturday morning depressed to know that he wasn’t as good as you’d hoped, grab a quick brunch at le gamin and then “accidentally” stumble upon the sexpo then go home and make things better. All info here. 72 Noble St.
The Craft Ice House by LG, in midtown Manhattan
Yep, it’s a craft cocktail event being thrown by a refrigerator manufacturer. This event truly has “everything that we think New Yorkers like” all combined into one event, without LG realizing that none of us actually purchase refrigerators. Guys, we don’t. They come with our lousy apartments. We go to bars for craft ice, if we’re those kinds of people. But most of us just take whatever ice will keep our drink cold enough for us to enjoy it. However, you’re right. We love terrarium bars. We enjoy making cookies look pretty. We want our children to be read stories by a former NFL player. We want cocktails and mocktails and how to learn how to garnish them for all those in-home cocktail parties we’re going to have once we buy our new refrigerator. I would honestly love to sit in the marketing meeting that will follow this event and see the confused yet satisfied look on all of their faces. “Yep, overall, it was a success!” Oh LG, you put the smart in smart home.
Things to do in Brooklyn on Sunday
Bushwick Open Studios Closing Party at Elsewhere in Bushwick
What better way to close out an amazing weekend of art and artists and being oh-so-Bushwick by partying it all off at Bushwick’s most innovative venue? Elsewhere will be welcoming the artists and those who appreciate them, and also those who might be lying about how many galleries they attended, with open arms on Sunday. Go meet your neighbors. Make new friends. Watch the sunset on the rooftop with tears in your eyes, promising yourself you’ll start painting again. Dance it all off, all night. Info here. Party starts at 7pm. 599 Johnson Ave.
House of Yes Block Party in Bushwick
What better way to capture the spirit of Bushwick Open Studios than with an all day block party hosted by our absolute dearest party friends in the borough? There is no better way. Head to House of Yes for this indoor and outdoor block party to celebrate the end of another summer of love and to find someone to hunker down with for the cold season. Live art, live music, live dancing. Go. Feel alive, rain or shine. Info here. noon-6pm, 2 Wyckoff Ave.
Mister Sunday at Nowadays in Ridgewood
There will be a few more Mister Sunday’s after this one, but every week that goes by will increase the risk of the weather not cooperating and the chill of the Autumn wind clinching our joints and rendering us unable to dance all day and into the night to resident DJs Eamon Harkin and Octo Octa. What I’m saying is, go this week. Show off that new leather jacket you bought. Get down with your bad self and your bad friends. If you don’t, you’ll regret it in the winter. Info here. 3-9pm, 56-06 Cooper Ave.
Dave’s Waves Back-To-School Special at the Sunview Luncheonette in Greenpoint
There are few situations in which I’d tell you, ok, so, I’m not really 100% sure this is happening, but it’s definitely worth a shot. This is one of those times. The Sunview Luncheonette in Greenpoint never seems to be open. Their website is down. The only info I can really find is from 2015 except for this little gem- an event posting for a back to school party. So if indeed it’s happening, it’s where you want to be. The luncheonette feels like being transported back into time, so who knows, maybe at the end you’ll actually be back in school. Although I hope not. The link provided doesn’t give you much info or confidence, but here it is anyway. 7pm, 221 Nassau Ave.
