THURSDAY
The Meat in Meatballs at the Museum of Food and Drink in Williamsburg
Sure, the meatball scene has gotten a little packed in our town, but the guys who did it first took off because they were bold enough to do things differently, to seek a different model for the often exhausted restaurant scene, to roll onto the scene with a new concept and to have a fucking ball while doing it. (ugh, sorry.) Find out how they did it and why it worked tonight at the MoFaD. Executive Chef Daniel Sharp talks with Emily {earson of Heritage Foods as they talk food trends, meat sourcing, ballers, stakeholders and steakholders. Oh and there will be beer. And balls. Tickets, $25 available here. 6:30-8:30pm, 62 Bayard St.
Pride Week, in our hearts and all over town

Aimee Mann at the Prospect Park Bandshell
You know what’s amazing about living in this town? That we somehow get to see free concerts from amazing artists all summer, in a park in the middle of Brooklyn where you’d be so charmed to be anyway. Even without music. Aimee Mann helps christen Celebrate Brooklyn! this season Thursday night. Word to the wise, leave work early. Leave work now. This is why you live here. Another word to the wise, you can usually sneak in wine if you do it in a leather wine bota. So, um, find a way to get one and fill it on the way. Tickets are free, wines are not. Info here, gates at 6pm.

Coney Island Cyclones Bike Ride + Baseball Game
Ah yes, we always think we’ll go to Cyclones games, because baseball is kind of fun live and beers are apparently cheap there and coney island is funky. But let’s be honest, we need a little push. We need a little drive. We need a little group bike ride toward our destination. Well now you have no excuses. Bike to the game Friday night with a group of new friends. Leave from the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge at 7pm. Info here.
Friday Night Fireworks on the Boardwalk with Coney Island Brewery

Americana Music Festival in Brooklyn Bridge Park
Music festivals have gotten lost amid the bleary-eyed models who treat the dirt as runways to see and be seen and end up hearing nothing. (ok, that was a bit of an exaggeration but you get what I’m saying) Get back to the roots of the festival this weekend with the annual Americana Music Festival. Sit in the grass along the East River, overlooking our iconic skyline and listening to the songs and artists who make up what this country was made up of, and still can be. Celebrate summer with some good tunes and brews. Best of all, it’s free to attend. Info here, 6-8pm, Brooklyn Bridge Park (and the piers below it)
