we can all agree that those lederhosen you wore on halloween that year were a bad idea. they were, they were fucking awful man. let them be a bad idea again this saturday at brooklyn brewery’s oktoberfest. because bad ideas go down easiest with a stein of brooklyn’s best beer and sausage from the meat hook while singing loudly along with whatever german tourists find their way there to show you how it’s done and all of your best friends there to make fun of you. because you deserve it. Intoxicated cupcakes catapult into ecstatic dance before your captivated vision, their faces asparkle over sprawling collars of frosting. Human hearts made of humans with hearts hang in the darkness and heave and throb, as shadow-figures attempt to copulate with catatonic audience members. Items of household furniture rise from their places in ballet-like ascensions. Chihuly Nights at the New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx.
your best #reasontocrosstheriverthisweekend is oh so worth it… and happens to brings you across the river and then over another, to a most exotic location in the bronx. head to the new york botanical gardens for chihuly nights, where the surreal glass sculptures of dale chiluly shatter your senses and come alive amid the backdrop of our city’s stunning gardens. this exhibition only runs through the end of the month, and trust me, it’s not something to be missed. tickets, $35 available here. 2900 south boulevard.

we can all agree that times square sucks.. except when it doesn’t. and do you want to know when that is? this saturday, for the largest diwali celebration outside of india. this annual celebration of lights comes to the city’s worst tourist attraction to bring it alive with indian dance and music, a diwali bazaar, indian cuisine from all of the country’s dynamic and tasty regions, and traditional lamp lighting ceremony that you’ll want on your instagram. trust me. event is free, all info here. noon-9pm in times square.
