This week Springtime was welcomed with a ton of snow and cold and doubt about whether or not Winter will ever actually concede and set us free from its greedy little grip.
There’s hope on the horizon, Brooklyn. And it starts here with your weekend. Forget the snow. To hell with the equinox. Thermometer’s, be damned! If we wait for pleasant weather in this town we’ll only be happy for about 4.5 days out of the year. So get out there anyway. The weekend is setting in now and it looks so damn good on you.

It’s the newly-renovated dance space underneath your favorite clam shack in Bushwick, and it’s begging for you to paint the town red beneath it’s rosey-glow. All the best djs and amazing live bands too. Lots of hidden corners for you to get dirty in. Plenty of open space for you to dance yrself clean upon. And a studio-54 vibe that will have you making for the bathroom. All night. (choose whichever way you want that pun to go. I won’t tell anyone.) Check out their schedule here and head there Friday night. Don’t find me, I’ll find you. 96 Morgan Ave.

SATURDAY
Sumo Stew at the Brooklyn Kitchen in Williamsburg
Few things are more intimidating than a really really big guy waddling toward you in a tiny diaper. But what if you knew that his belly was full of a big hearty stew? All of a sudden your urge to just barrel right into him is lessened as that small rubber band of a diapee becomes less and less capable of saving you from… well, you get where I’m going here. Sumo Stew is the traditional, hearty stew sumos fill up on to test the limits of those briefs before matches, and once a month the good people at The Brooklyn Kitchen are serving it up to us, along with a live streaming sumo match on the big screen, a bento box full of treats from famous Japanese chefs in the city, plus free beer from Asahi AND Japanese Whisky from Nikka AND Sake from Brooklyn Kura AND Tea from In Pursuit of Tea AND MOCHI FROM MOCHIDOKI. YEAH. All of this is happening. And if you want to go outside and strip down into your skivvies and ram your stew bellies into each other after the event, that’s encouraged. Not by them, by me. The event goes from 6pm-9pm, street sumo belly-ramming from 9:15 until late into the night. Tickets are just $65. Get yours here now then head to 100 Frost St.
