Scandinavian Spirits Night at the Museum of Food and Drink in Williamsburg
Instead of bitching about the cold, why don’t we figure out what we can do to make it feel better? To make us feel better? To help us survive? We should look to other cultures at other latitudes that have had it much worse. How have the Scandinavians survived? And why do they seem so happy about it, all the time? The secret is in their spirits. One spirit, in particular. Aquavit. Yep. Aquavit. The acme fish factory on Gem St. is still here. It’s still smoking and canning fish, and Friday it wants to make a statement. Instead of scaling back, or getting canned, they’re gating even bigger. SATURDAY
The Lot Two Year Anniversary Party at Brooklyn Bazaar in Greenpoint
I remember it like it was yesterday, every time I biked past triangle-shaped plot of land on berry st, wondering who lived in that trailer, trying to catch a glimpse of this audacious urban squatter. While I never got any answers, what I did get was something completely unexpected. An industrial container running within it a coffee stand and bar and radio station, and a hammock, a smattering of pink flamingos and the best use of micro urban islands I’ve ever experienced. This Magical wonderland turns two this weekend, so let’s celebrate. They take over all 5 rooms of the Brooklyn Bazaar and fill them with their regular djs and friends. Come dance all night. Tickets, $20-30 are going fast. Get yours here now. 7pm-5am, 150 Greenpoint ave.

Then get ready to fill in this blank… “The last thing I remember was…” Over 100 spirits, and thank god some food vendors too.
